Fear

Sometimes nights are overcome with fear.
The words of God and his comfort I can hardly hear.
Tempted to forsake my faith and love for him,
It can seem a sham and my hope grows very dim.
The treadmill of oppressive thoughts drag me down,
And sleep has gone and left me tossing alone.
